I read your book twice, each time I received something that I didnt from the last reading. I’ve watched you grow from the young woman you were, to the great woman you are, and I’m sure you are not even close to done yet. From the beginning of the book my heart went out to you as you grew up and have gone through so many things a young child should not go through nor see. Then I found myself cheering for you as your life turned around to become an inspiration to others. Breaking the chain is a powerful thing to do because it starts a chain of greatness. Your little ones (not so little now) are now starting their chain of greatness because of you. I highly recommend this book for your first read, and a positive motivational pick me up from thereafter.
I heard you cry many times. I’m glad He heard you cry. I can’t wait to read it again!
EVEN THOUGH THE FIRE IS RAGING, THIS BOOK IS A MUST READ! THERE IS LIGHT AT THE END OF THE TUNNEL!
First, I had to get past the heartfelt message you wrote in my copy of your book. I am so glad to hear that my book encouraged you to never give up on your dream to write. No, I did not know you were watching me. I thank God that I was a positive figure in your life. I give all praises to the most high.
A beautiful person with a beautiful smile is how I saw you each time we crossed paths. Who would have imagined the life hidden behind that smile. I could have read the book in one setting, but the tears flowed so heavily at times that I had to put the book down several times.
Your book is a testimony, proving that there is light at the end of the tunnel. Even though the fire is raging, you can still escape without a singe or a smell. I pray that your book will touch every soul thinking about giving up.
Last, but not least, it was a pleasure for you to participate in my plays. You excel in everything you put your hands on. Thank you for being a part of my productions and for a great book. Continue to pour out your love. May the Lord continue to show you and your family favor. I love you, my sister.
Oops, I did not mean to write a novel! Lol!

This is a must read book! Rolanda’s story is incredibly inspiring and truthful.
The book is about SURVIVAL, STRENGTH, PERSEVERENCE, FORGIVENESS, LOVE, LEARNING, HOPE, AND REDEMPTION!!
It is unbelievable that one human being has endured so much and yet despite it all done such GREAT things for herself, children, parents, husband, friends, and community!
If you have every struggled with depression, suicide, forgiveness, or despair you MUST read this book!
Oh my gosh Rolanda, I finally sat down to read your book (I still like a physical copy and so Treva brought me one from the night you spoke to the women at Grace) last night and I couldn’t put it down! I finished it in about 2 hours! I laughed and cried and praised God for you and sharing the story of what Jesus has done in your life. What a testimony!!! Seriously, someone needs to make a movie. You never told me about being raped (you did tell me about your sister) and that broke my heart in a million pieces. I laughed so hard about Sister Thomas and her drunk husband. So many things I love about the book – first of all, you wrote it all – its YOUR WORDS exactly! I’ve heard you tell many of those stories, and you tell them in person the same way you told them in the book and I love that! Secondly, you were completely honest and as hard as it was to read about some of the things you went through, it makes your salvation and life now even more miraculous. And, it helps me understand even more about single moms and women in poverty and abuse and that we never know what someone has been through……. You kept the main thing the main thing – and you gave all the glory to God and shared scripture that inspired you. I am so thankful to know you, to be your friend, and to have shared in your story! Love you!!!!!

Rolanda, your book “He heard my cry” was amazing. You are such a strong young lady and so glad we are work buddies and friends, Reading this book gives me so much inspiration to never give up. Thanks for being a blessing to so many people. Love you sis!!!
When you meet someone, you think they are and have always been what is standing before you. The layers get peeled away over the years, if it is permitted. It is not often that you get to pick up a book about them and dive into their story.
He Heard My Cry, felt like an invitation to walk in Rolanda’s shoes. There is no sugar coating the trauma of abuse and poverty but the story does not end in despair. Throughout the book, Rolanda makes the point so clearly that in her desperation, she called out to a God she wasn’t sure would hear her.
Spoiler alert… He did just that and transformed her story from emptiness to a life of purpose and service to God.
This book is so much more than my review. Pick one up, read it and be blessed.
Raw, Bold, and uncut. It was very emotional at times, I couldn’t put it down. I finished the book in one sitting. It gripped me. Her life of struggle after struggle, one after another is something I can relate to. That point of feeling that all is lost or what’s the point; but the strength of this young lady to keep her poise and sanity because she was living for something or someone more important than herself, is the truest testament of who Rolanda the author is. I learned things about her and our family that only a strong yet humble person could lay out for the world to see. Blunt and forward. I must admit I’m so proud of all that you’ve accomplished. Obviously my opinion may be biased because you are my wonderful mother and I love you more than words can describe! You continue to amaze us and you keep raising that bar! #povertyCycleBroken
Thank you my son! Because of you, I became a mother and it began to change my thoughts for how to become better for you, then for your siblings! Love you my first born!
Very bold and honest. It’s the type of journey that shows you the power of faith and reliciency. Nothing is impossible! Thank you for putting this out to the world.
Thank you Sebastian, for your encouragement, your kindness and your friendship!
From the moment I met Rolanda, I knew I was in the presence of a very special woman. I was blown away by her story. The pain and heartache was unimaginable. For Rolanda to keep going year after year, finding the strength and the courage, is nothing short of miraculous. Praise be to God and the power He wields to help those who seek Him. Rolanda continues to inspire not only through her written story but through her actions. Thank you for sharing your incredible journey. I am honored to be your friend and sister in Christ.
What a pleasant and beautiful soul you are Paula. Since I met you, you have been such a ray of sunshine, a great support and a totally cool person. I’m honored to know you!
Thank you Paula! It’s been an absolute pleasure getting to know you, your heart and your business. I’m so glad this book blessed you in some way.
This book was not only a great read but the author that produced this phenomenal book I had the opportunity to live the life with her and as amazing as she is, as strong as she is, as phenomenal as she is, I tip my hat to her because she was able to survive the treachery life was trying to hand her and came out without smelling like smoke, and stronger than ever. Because of the God she serves, He was able to reveal Himself, He called her name and she heard Him, because He heard her cry. This book brought me back to a place I can only give God the glory for the life we live today. I love you Roe…
Thank you so much Katrina for witnessing my journey! You know God always has a witness to corroborate truth so others will believe. You are that witness. I met you at 15 years old and what I wrote about you witnessed from that point forward and that was divine corroboration! Thank you for watching me grow.
I heard Rolanda as a guest speaker at a graduation ceremony and her story was so powerful and empowering and that was only a snippet. I was so intrigued after hearing her I purchased the book the same day it was released. Wow. What a powerful and riveting biography A page turner that I completed in one sitting. Many times I cried seeing humanity through her eyes. Her psalm guides you through the book giving you glimpses of her life through each stanza. And man it was a tough life. I felt for her, felt with her. An absolutely MUST READ.
Thank you for your support! It’s my prayer that lives are changed and people see hope!
